The owner’s first wish was to preserve as much of the original flooring as possible, particularly the herringbone parquet in the living room and the terrazzo tiles in the entrance hall. The apartment had a very classic layout, which was modified by combining two spaces to create a single room that could accommodate the kitchen, dining area and living room. In addition, there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which is en suite.
The finishes in the living area and guest bedroom have been preserved and restored. Where two rooms were joined to create the large open-plan living area, two frames can be seen on the floor framing the herringbone parquet flooring, a sign of the previous division into two separate rooms.
Walnut veneered arched doors separate the bedrooms from the living area. The main sleeping area features a resin floor that transitions from a neutral colour in the bedroom to an intense blue in the bathroom. To break up the intensity of the blue, a white Carrara marble shower has been created, the entrance to which is marked by four slabs that protrude from the wall.
The L-shaped kitchen embraces the open-plan space, creating a backdrop for the dining area and the central island, which is made entirely of stainless steel. On the wall side, a combination of stainless steel and green lacquered wood was chosen, forming a visual division between the upper and lower parts of the kitchen.
