The starting point for this project was the client’s request for a bright place.
Having to transform two apartments into a single one, the first attempt was to try and enhance the reflection of light in the central areas of the apartment. The choice of the material was therefore related to reflection and texture. Metal sheets wrap the internal walls of the house, allowing the light to run through the dark entrance and giving a stronger sense of materiality. The white travertine floor, combined with the metal walls grants a luminous shell ready to welcome colored furniture capable to warm up the atmosphere.
Two blocks generate the apartment’s plan creating different areas within the same space; inside these blocks, find place technical areas of the house and the guest room; everything else is included in a big open-space. The metal walls allow a flexible arrangement of the space, folding themselves and enhancing the feeling of one single room that can be lived by the owner both as a “whole” or as different areas of the house.
