The idea from which Villa dei Tufi was born is to live completely exposed to the surrounding landscape, without filters, in a beautiful centuries-old olive grove. Inside the villa four “refuges” house the bedrooms, their en-suite bathrooms and the kitchen, the cornerstone of everyday life. Each of them is built with blocks of local stone laid according to tradition, giving those who live there the feeling of being protected by the most solid of constructions.
Above these volumes a single large white plate represents the architectural element that allows the house to be lived in its entirety, defining the area of everyday life without ever physically occupying the ground. Under the roof the landscape enters the building becoming part of it and vice versa and the large windows disappear between the massive stone volumes. Thus everyday life flows without any perceptible limit between inside and outside; the garden becomes a living room, the house becomes an olive grove. Under the shade of the roof the loggia overlooks the pool in red travertine, the color of the stone mixes with the color of the earth in which it is dug, finding its place among the centuries-old olive trees that surround it. A small staircase leads to the roof where you can have an aperitif at sunset looking at the sea that appears among the foliage of secular plants.
