The two-stories apartment finds place in one of Milan’s old Paper Mills, the Cartiera Binda, now renovated and transformed into a housing complex. The apartment plan pivots around a cornerstone, the central green and white staircase, connecting the living areas on the ground floor to the more private rooms on the upper level. The living area is developed around a single large open-space that houses both the kitchen, the dining and the living room. Whilst the atmosphere on the ground floor is reminiscent of the more industrial atmosphere typical of the old paper mill, with the stainless steel kitchen and the concrete floor, on the upper floor the wooden beams and dim colors create a more intimate atmosphere, suited to the private dimension of the floor.
