For the studio’s inauguration party, we created a series of pedestals to display ongoing projects that minimised the number of elements of which they were composed. The result was the intersection of two triangles connected and mirrored to each other that could be positioned either horizontally or vertically. Several years later, faced with a request from a couple of customers to have specially designed stools for their home, we reflected on the value of the lightness of the same pedestals that surrounded us in the studio and imagined their possible evolution. The goal was to maintain the purity of the initial structure, adding only the necessary components to make them usable in their new function. The structure is only affected by a stainless steel ring, hence the name orbit. This ring emphasises the stool’s centre of gravity, becoming a support for the feet and giving solidity to the horizontal tensions when under stress. The seat is composed of a steel sheet resting on the upper triangle and spaced from it to emphasise its lightness. A slight crease on the back side of the steel sheet makes the direction of use of the stool recognisable to allow for maximum stability.
